That probably means a GW version of 5th edition. I wouldn't be surprised if LRB and the Rules Committee is shot down next.

They couldn't just change their site name?

it wasn't just the site name, the guy runs it from his own server, and does all the upkeep himself, and GW wanted him to desist taking donations for upkeep. along with some other demands.

Yeah, and it doesn't even make sense from a legal view. He needs a lawyer working in England, where he's at, to assist him. Most of the time, these letters are sent to lowly chaps with little knowledge/power. Challenging the sender of those letters wouldn't be hard - they operate under the system of intimidation.
My cynical side is that GW waited for LRB6 to be done (it is) and sent to them to publish (it is). Now, they don't need the forum or it's suggestions anymore. |

This is pretty much how GW has operated as a business since about 1990. Around that time they stole proprietary information from game distributors and were successfully sued over unfair business practices. Since that time they have limited their litigation to small businesses and individuals. GW has had a long standing dispute with any Internet based operations regarding their products, especially internet sales. I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner.
Here is what I fear happening. GW will see events like the GenCon tournament, the success of the video game and the activities of NAF as proof that a new edition of Blood Bowl is needed to maintain both copyright and to influence the table top game environment. They will then sever any amicable ties to groups like the Rules Committee and publish a new base set with a new set of rules. Players will be forced to choose between new rules or playing with current LRB rules. GW will threaten to sue anyone publicly posting any LRB rules online as they have done in the past for their other games, including their flagship Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 lines. _________________ Groomie Stupidity got us into this mess, why can't it get us out? |
