To the delectable Mr. Burns

Dear Sir,

I hate your 9-5 job as it mirrors my own. This means that I will have to take time out of MY free time to play a childs game that we both know the ending to. If you would like to concede now I will acquiess. Until you have the epiphony of utter doom at my hands when would like to schedule this farce?

I plan on being gone this weekend due to the celebration (or damnation) of my father's day. I lament this delay in your eventual soul crushing defeat. On the following week I"m available most evenings save Thursday. Please communicate with me a date for your self-imposed destruction. These trivolities of actually playing the game seem a waste however I will honor the form if not the spirit of the gamesmanship.

Dear Opponent,

Dearest Enemy,
Though you seem to desire a quick death, I will not allow it.  I am available most days next week.  Tuesdays are a bit tricky, but otherwise, I should be fine.  Should we try Monday or Wednesday at 6?

I am playing for much more than pride - I am playing to keep Mr. Lyons from the playoffs.  (ha!)   Wink

Your Ogres shall feel my wrath. *

In reposte of said accusations,

Let us dine on the flesh of gamesmenship on the Wednesday following this. It happens to be St. Jean Baptiste day celebrated by our Northern cousins, the Canadians. The 24th to be percise. I look forward to feeling your silky fists.

Your most ernest opponent,
jerod

And when he says 'hear about' he means 'made famous'.

Don't be so humble Drew.

Holy heck in a handbasket sir. It was beyond the pale that I overlooked a previous engagement for next Wednesday. Could we perhaps hasten our clash to next monday the 22nd? Perhaps spirits afterwards?
MeatLoafX

Sure thing.
MeatLoafX

Actually, I may not be able to play Monday.  I think I have a music lesson that evening...  I'll let you know.

Alright, that's it.  My dream of playing my season 3 Orcade in this year's playoffs is OFFICIALLY over.  I will now commence the searching for a replacement coach.

In the end, it was violin lessons that killed the beast.  <single tear>

Very Happy
MeatLoafX

Or, you know, it could be your schedule and the fact you're gone for a month.   Rolling Eyes

Plus, we were originally scheduled for next wednesday, which is two days after Monday when I have a lesson.

We'll try to schedule it ASAP, but it's not always possible to play a game a week.   Wink
SunDevil

The smiley face was meant to convey that my post was in jest.  Of course, my being away from Iowa is the #1 reason I will miss the playoffs and you are in no way delinquent in your game scheduling.  I just thought it would be funny to have violin lessons be the proverbial straw.

However, I do still have issues with others who are more cavalier in their league participation.

Dear Opponent,

I wonder if these are spelling errors or new words that Jerod crafted to strike fear in Jason's heart?

acquiess = acquire + less?
trivolities = frivolity + trivialities?
Epiphony = epiphany + phony?
MeatLoafX

I do have a music lesson tomorrow (Monday) evening.  Is there another day this week?  Thursday?

I'm playing my playoff game Tuesday.  (Thought I would throw that barb into the wound...)

I finish my regular season tonight and will immediately be trying to schedule a playoff game with my opponent.  Are the playoff matches set yet?
admin

Tuesday would work but I know it's not good for you. Let's shoot for Thursday. I'm sure my AGOT folks will be the coolio with that.
MeatLoafX

Tuesday is OK, but not until later  (around 7:00) .  We have to get the CSA stuff on Tuesday, and it takes a little while.

Let's plan on Thursday, unless you have an overwhelming desire to get it done on Tuesday and don't mind if it takes us until 10 or so.  Razz
admin

Thurs it is as long as you don't mind I gots to work while we do it.
MeatLoafX

That's fine.

Thursday it is!

Can't wait for the match. it might be official- thom may become 'the hoff'

Pauley and Nate were a firm match-up reguardless of all other results.  Unfortunately for you Chance, your fate is still up in the air.  You are a lock as the #2 Seed and will play the #3 Seed from the opposite division.  It could be either Carlson, Spencer, Jason or Myself depending on how games go during week 10.  If your game is a lock before week 10 ends I'll print your sheets early also.  On the plus side for you if you win in the first round you'll be playing the winner between Nate and Pauley, so maybe you'll be able to get two games in if you're lucky.

Thanks for the update, VT!

I wish the HGCBBL commish was this good.  The guy's an idiot.

Seriously, don't you have anything better to do than troll the boards waiting for your beat down?

No, I do not.  I want DESPERATELY to play my playoff games before I'm gone next month.  I know it's mostly my fault because some (not all) of the time away is based on my choice to work a job out of state.  But to know I could have played my playoff games if not for a few other matches here and there that took days or weeks longer than they should/could have...

It just sucks.
admin

Ha! I was actually talking to MeatloafX.  For those of you don't know the Goonies end on a lose scoring nary a star player point all game. Hats off to Jason and goodluck in the playoffs!
MeatLoafX

Thank you, good sir.  Those Ogres seem like a very challenging team to play.  I hear they used to have a full roster of Ogres in a former rulebook.  Is that true?

And snotlings...  breaking someone on a 6 shouldn't be possible.   Shocked

It was a fun time and, though I'm not sure how the playoff picture will shake out, if I do make it, I'll likely make a very quick exit.  Those dwarves will still be hung-over from their post-season party.
vegeta7913

yeah, i believe that they had 12 ogres possible, if memory serves, and their journeyman piece was an ogre.

FYI, we are ahead of schedule on the season.  Every week of season 7 has taken two weeks or less.  Thus no week has taken longer than it should have and some have ended early.

You are pretty much in 100%.  I'd have to make up like 30 points of differential on you and that isnt really possible in one game (Winning 8-0 would only be 24 points).

The old Ogre roster was 0-12 Ogre and 0-6 Goblins.  It was an LRB 4 roster so there were not any journymen back then.

MeatLoafX

The Goblin/Ogre team sounds quite good, actually.
vegeta7913

yeah, scott lewis had a pretty decent team going - it was going to be a high B team in my opinion until they decided to totally handicap it with snotlings and only 6 ogres

I'm thinking of a few very specific things that could have resulted in more weeks finishing early but, again, this situation is MY fault, no one else's.
