Sword and Dragon Campaign - Homebrew ErrataHey all,
I'm really liking the new Starterbook: Sword and Dragon campaign. With the rules that Andrew and I came up with for adding more flexability for building your own units and using more mechs, it's even more fun.
One of the things we've discovered is some errors in the track system. There is no official errata on the www.classicbattletech.com website for the book yet so I thought I would post what some other people on the forums there have come up with (and what we've decided ourselves).
First of all there is no way to do the Recon-in-Force mission currently in the track system.
Here's a solution under the "Ask the Writer's" forum:

Which I take it is somewhat more "official".

Another suggestion from the same posterHere's another suggestion for the non existant Scout mission:
http://forums.classicbattletech.com/index.php/topic,30937.0.html
Here's the summary of the proposal
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION: SCOUT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some military quote similar to Recon / Recon-In-Force.
--Famous military dudes name.
GAME SET-UP
The Defender places two mapsheets, placing the longer edges together, and designates one of the shorter edges as the Defender's home edge. The Attacker's home edge is opposite the Defender's. The defender places 10 buildings on the same mapsheet as has the Defender's home edge. Half the buildings occupy only 1 hex, while the other half occupy 2. The buildings must be placed at least 3 hexes from the edge of the mapsheets, and at least 7 hexes from the Defender's home edge, and within a circle of 9 inches in diameter. Also, no two buildings may be placed in adjacent hexes.
Attacker
The attacker consists of a small portion of the player force and may use up to four units. All the attackers units enter along the first turn from the attackers home edge.
Defender
The defender is a portion of a much larger force and is determined after the attacker has chose his forces. To determine the Defender's Force Composition, roll 1D6 on the following table. Apply a +1 modifier to the roll if the presious track was a Mission: Recon or Mission: Scout.
1D6 Force Composition Unit Type
1 5 Light Militia
2 4 Light, 1 Medium Militia
3 2 Light, 3 Medium Militia
4 1 Light, 1 Medium, 2 Heavy Mercenary
5 1 Light, 2 Medium, 2 Heavy Mercenary
6 2 Medium, 2 Heavy, 1 Assault Mercenary
(7) 1 Medium, 2 Heavy, 2 Assault House
Two of the defenders units start within 10 hexes of the Defender's home edge. The remainder enter along the Defender's home edge at the beginning of turn 3.
WARCHEST
Track Cost: 75 WP
Optional Bonuses (points are gained if at least one Objective is completed with following optional rules, all bonuses are cumulative):
Electrical Storm: Scanning ranges are halved, bonus 5 points per successful scan.
+50 Well Guarded: The defenders have an additional medium mech, roll on the appropriate assignment table.
OBJECTIVES
1. ID / scan the enemy. Scanning must be done within 2 hexes of an enemy building and 4 hexes of an enemy mech and in lieu of any attack. Beagle Active Probes half these distances. (Reward 15 per building and 25 per mech)
2. Stealth: Get a friendly mech out with only minor damage. (Reward 10 per mech: minor damage is no armour breaches, and a maximum of a third the total armour)
SPECIAL RULES
The following special rules are in effect for this track.
Forced Withdrawal:
The Attacker's aim is to scan without becoming embroiled in a slugging match. Because of this the Forced Withdrawal rules (see p. 60 of Starter Book: Sword and Dragon) are in effect with the following additions. Instead of crippling damage forcing a withdrawal moderate damage will do. Moderate damage is defined as
1. Anything that already qualifies as crippling damage.
2. Any torso (or head) location with no armour remaining.
3. Any weapon (mounted in the arms or legs) destroyed.
NEXT TRACKS
Recon, Scout, Recon-In-Force, Probe, Assault, Pursuit.
The following notes are added to the descriptions for the other missions to have the Scount mission fill a similar role as Mission:Recon and Mission:Recon-In-Force.
Notes:
1. If the next track is a Mission:Recon apply a +1 to the roll for opposing forces.
2. If the next track is a Mission:Recon-In-Force apply a -2 to the roll for opposing forces, to a minimum of 1,
3. If the next track is a Mission:Assault do not apply the +2 modifier to the roll for opposing forces.
4. Add the Scout mission as the next track for Defend, Assault, Valentina, Cassias, Thestria, Fighting Withdrawal, Pursuit, Udibi, Capra,
