I'm pretty happy with the deck, but am definitely going to be making some changes. I never got gold screwed completely, but my turn 3/4 ended up clunky pretty much every game...despite the 17 gold producing holdings. The Spider's Lair trait allowed to me win games I should have lost, and it is simply an awesome stronghold against military and switch decks. I don't play against enough honor runners to know if it's fast enough...and all of the good fate side honor meta has low focus values (Desperate Wager and Unfortunate Incident). Any insight?
I'm taking out 3x Iemitsu (doesn't bow from resolution), and 2x Sahara (base force for duels), for 2x more Hirata (discard to bow, or kill if DV), and 3x Kyuwa (bows all 3F or less in a unit). A little more gold cost, a little less force, but a lot more battle action goodness.
This change makes Gempukku Blade way too costly, and is going to be cut to make room for the last Brute Force, Determination, and Insight as soon as I can get them. In the meantime, they will probably just be Tsi Blades. Ring of Void will probably come out for the Armor (+3F, 5C, and straighten tech). Not sure though.
With less items, I'll probably take out Temples of Gisei Toshi, and I'm going to try and trade my Bazaar for a Gov Court. If I can get my hands on 3x Venerable Masters (only have one) I'll throw those in and take out Family Library and the two other holdings.

I'd think Sahara would be your best dueler. Why would you take him out?
I have some Venerable Masters if you wanna trade for them sometime.
I would say that if you wanna run Governor's Court you should be running Daigotsu Usharo as he has 4 chi and can bow for Governor's Court then straighten.

The Governor's Court are for my crane deck Spider honor is too far out there for me, good as it may be (believe it or not). I may take you up on those Venerable Masters, thanks.
Sahara is deceptively bad. With only 6 battle duels in Samurai edition, he is absolutely useless if I don't have one in my hand. There is also a good chance I'll have someone else on the table who can duel just as well or better anyways. He only has a 2 honor loss, which means my Style card only focuses for 4 with him. He doesn't have the Shadowlands trait, which means Daigotsu can't straighten him. He has a 0 PH requirement, not a dash, so if I lose any honor he becomes way overpriced. His only saving grace is that he has 5 force for 5 gold...which I can get elsewhere with a useful ability to boot.
Just for fun, here are the chi numbers in my current build:
6 chi - Daigotsu
5 chi - Yajinden, Katsu
4 chi - Eiya, Rekai, Muketsu, Hotako, 3x Kyuwa, 3x Sachio
3 chi - 3x Hirata, 2x Ryudo
2 chi - 3x Kaikou
Thirteen of my guys can duel most personalities in the game right away (isn't 3 chi average?), three of those can duel pretty much anyone, and all of them have a 3 or greater honor loss. It only gets easier with chi boosting items ala Blade of Hubris, Tsi Blade, etc. Eight of those personalities will probably never issue a duel, but again, I only have 6 duel cards in the entire deck. I'd rather have solid battle actions on people that can be used regardless of my fate hand, which is why I took out 6 of my ability-less personalities. I don't foresee a problem issuing or winning duels, except against Dragon or plain old lopsided focus pools.
