We should be. They 2 ways to qualify for it were either be above a lvl 2 store or have a HW Pre-release. So we meet both requirements.

Well the way I see it we can divide up the points pretty easily seeing as there are going to be only 5 Clans represented AFAIK. Crab, Lion, Mantis, Phoenix, & Unicorn.

Military - who ever whens the Main Event

Economic - Have the draft and winner gets the Econ point only if they didn't get the Military point. I would be willing if I won the draft to give that point to Mantis.

Politics, Knowledge, and Spirit can be divided among who is left. I would strongly pull for Uni to get the Politics point if I didn't get the Military one.

I think it works out pretty fairly as there will be at most 1-2 representatives for each clan so it will be hard to get the most of anything. And really who is going to dress up?

So unless we get a huge influx of outsiders I say we work things out like this.

although I do kinda care about just 'handing' out points... seems kinda sketchy to me. Shouldn't the winner of the draft win the economic point regardless of whether or not they won the military point??? If no one dresses up... which likely they won't, should the point even be awarded? Same question with T-shirt count.

Yeah, I get the trying to be fair, but isn't that also skirting the rules a bit as far as the race goes?

People have been skirting the rules all race. The Scorpion buy subscriptions for relatives, friends, dogs and the like. That was clearly not the intention of that contest, but it still happened.

The Dragon banner at Gencon Indy wasn't actually a holdable banner, took 50 minutes to erect, knocked over the Mantis banners at least twice, almost fell on top of Magic players, and broke convention center property. And yet, it still got the points.

Right now, Econ is close enough between Mantis and Dragon that I'm happy to do whatever it takes to get this Economic point. I'll concede to everybody during the main tournament in exchange for concessions during the draft. I'll wear a shirt for somebody else. I'll run around with somebody else's banner. I did all of these things at Gencon, and AEG was cool with it.

The Mantis got a huge sum of koku from the Crab in exchange for Mantis concessions during the main event. The Mantis got more koku from the Lion for wearing their t-shirts and holding Lion banners.

If AEG is okay with it at Gencon, I don't see a problem with it at small local events. Smile

That said, what will it take to guarantee Mantis get the draft Economy point? Smile

Like Eric said people have been skirting the rules all race. Also the points have to be rewarded regardless of whether someone meets the criteria or not, because they are points alloted for our event. Its silly to let them go to waste when people want them.

I dunno... win the point by the rules maybe? Call me crazy, stupid, honorable or otherwise, but I just don't see doing something because everyone else does it as being acceptable. However much I'd like to help Lion win the military point, I wouldn't take it any other way besides winning it; if I didn't it would just be a hollow victory that I know I didn't earn. But, hey, that's me... I guess if everyone else is fine with it and I'm the only dissenter then who am I to stop everyone else?

Well I did state in my break down earlier that the winners of the 2 tourny events would get the respective points. Just that if the same person won both events he would have to give either the military or economy point to another clan, his choice. Then the 3 non-tourny related points could split among the clans that didn't win a tournament. In whatever way everyone thinks is most acceptable. whether it be a small debate & vote or each remaining clan chooses a champion for a multiplayer game. Some way points can be divided fairly with out having to go through with the silly things that most of the 7-10 people there wont even be bothering with.

I see where you're coming from, and I respect the position. However, I just don't agree... that's all. No biggie. However, why exactly should the military and economic point have to go to different people? If the same person wins the constructed and the draft then they earned the respective points for their clan. Sorry to say it, but if I were to win both, which I highly doubt in either category (we all can hope though I suppose) I wouldn't be giving up either one of them as they would both be going to my clan. Deals, agreements and everything else people have done aside, the bottom line stance AEG has taken all along has been that the person who wins the points decides where they go. In some cases you choose before hand, like with military, by choosing the SH you're playing out of. In others, like draft, it's up to the winner.

And as an aside... I'd rather see the economic point go to Dragon than Mantis any day. Just a personal preference.

I just thought it would be a fair way to do things so no one feels like they got jipped because they didn't want to dress up or got a bad draw in the draft. I mean we can do it the way the rules say, but I just didn't want people to be pissed off or upset if for some reason only 1 or 2 clans get every single point.

Realistically I don't care how it gets done. If a person can get more then one point I will do my best to get as many as I can. If we go the other way then it just makes things easier as I don't have to worry about covering every angle since I can get only one point.

With just a week to go, I figured I'd gauge interest again. I'd be willing to trade cards or whatever for anything that gets me closer to the Econ point. I still have foil SE commons, a few foil SE uncommons, and plenty of other stuff.

Does this go by Clan or Person? Basically can different people win different things for the same clan? Or can the same person win different things for different clans?

So multiple points can go to the same clan if they are gained by the different people?

I just want to understand what kind of confines I have to work within. Also what if the only person who does something has already won a point somewhere else? Would they get it or no?

Is the t-shirt dominance Political point awarded to all persons wearing that clan's shirt? Say 5 people wear Hare Clan shirts and they win t-shirt dominance. Does that mean those five players cannot win the Military point, nor the Economy points for the draft? How will that work?

The military and econ do NOT cancel another win. You CAN win both the military and the spirit award. The rules they sent down were hazy at best. So I'm making these decisions by using logic (TM).

Playing cards isn't a judgement call. Either there is a winner or there isn't. These other awards are pretty undefined. We'll burn these bridges when we get to them.

A clan (person representing said clan) may win multiple awards. Why not? They put forth the effort- they should get the points. And in the event of a tie all points will be awarded to Mantis. (can I do that? Probably not. le sigh.)
