North Afrika: The First Axis OffensiveSo with the release of the new North Africa set this month, I was thinking of a new gaming event to go along with it.
I propose "Operation Sonnenblume", The First Axis Offensive in North Africa.
Starting in the spring of 1941, General Erwin Rommel was dispatched to aid the defeated and retreating forces of Italy. He was given orders to go on the defensive but instead pressed his advantage and began an offensive that took the Allies by surprise.
You can read the detail of the historical first Axis offensive in support of Italy here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West...n#Rommel.27s_first_Axis_offensive
The rules for the event would be to build a 100 point Axis force consisting of Italians and Germans with units no later then 1941 or build a 100 point Allied force consisting of UK or commonwealth (Australia/Canada) units from no later then 1941. Bring either force to play on the new map set that will be released at the same time.
Players should play the standard game with Expanded Rules optional.
What do you think Jerod?

That sounds like a really cool idea! When would you plan on doing it?
I came in today, but I must've come at a bad time. I wouldn't want to miss anything like this, and hopefully I'll have lots of characters from the new set next week.
Anyway, I certaintly approve. Hope to play again soon!

Sorry you missed people down for A&AM last night Kevin. Zach couldn't play and I didn't think anyone else was going to show up.
Zach and I were going to get together to play on Friday (I think) if you are interested in finding a game this week.
I'd like to start this North Africa Event next week.
Jerod, I propose we keep track of who wins during the "offensive" for a couple weeks and see if the Allies would have defeated Rommel and upset history had they been commanded by one of us.

That's okay, I was worried something like that might happen, due to my last absenses, but I've worked out how to arrive by bus, so hopefully no more repeats of last month.
I still haven't gotten my A&A minis in the mail, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they arrive before Tuesday!
And, I suppose it would be a good idea to exchange e-mail addresses so I can let you guys know if I won't be around for whatever reason!
What the heck, like anyone will spam me. You can contact me at:

Anyway, thanks again for the response! I'll try to stay on-topic now.
