Mighty Empires round 3

So we should be ready to end round 2, and start round 3 after the Nate v' Jason game on Sunday afternoon. When should we get together and work out the build and challenge phases for round 3? We could do it as soon as Sunday night, or we could wait till next weekend. Either way we should do it a CHG.

What do you guys think?

Knox
Nazgul12

I'm fine with Sunday night.  Otherwise, I could probably make time one of the nights this week.

-Jake
Pete

Sunday the 20th should be ok for me too.
wrekka

Sunday the 20th is good for me!
vegeta7913

sunday at crit hit is fine, say 1pmish?
Blood Bowl Wizard

1PM on Sunday would be good for me as well.

Jason
vegeta7913

sweet, i'll bring the punch!
Pete

As it turns out, I can't make it Sunday. I can always phone in my orders/selection if that's alright with everyone.

-Peter
vegeta7913

fine by me!

Just a reminder that we are getting together for round 3 today at CHG at 1:00. The new wargame table will be done and in the store by then, so if any of you want to bring your models, and break it in it'll be ready.

The matchups are set. Chris had first choice, and challenged Peter. Then Jason challenged Drew. Finally Jake challenged Nate. Nate still needs to spend his 5 empire points, and choose an event.

Knox

Jason,
Nate stopped in to the store and made his choices - he did pick up a mine - he wrote done his money on the sheet  - he picked fools gold to negate Jake's money for this round.
DrewB.
Pete

So does Chris's challenge trump my challenge with Drew that I mentioned over the phone?

Chris I guess we need to schedule a time to play. Wednesday (7/23) evening (6:00PM) at CHG ok with you?

Sounds good for me as of right now.. 6pm won't work.. more like 6:30-ish.  I won't get home from work until 6pm and I live in North Liberty.

Chris had the smallest empire, so he got to challenge first. Because he challenged Peter, Peter could not challenge Drew as he had wanted.

Got it.

I'll get you yet Buccicone!
vegeta7913

LOL - you stinkin' gobbo's never learn.  Tell you what Pete, next time, I'll play with one eye closed...you know, so my depth perception goes and my cannons actually have a chance to miss.
wrekka

Pete,

Are you still planning on being at the shop to play tonight?  If not.. I have the opportunity to pick up some hours (much needed!) here at work.. let me know.
Pete

Actually, if you want we can reschedule for tomorrow night. I still have a lot of painting to do to finish up my orcs for our game.

Hopefully you catch this before you take off for CHG tonight.

You can reach my cell at 541 2934

Friday seems to be the best day for me.  I have a half day at work (summer hours, yay!)
I am going to Eggy's tonight because a friend of mine's band is playing.
Pete

I can't play Friday because it's my Wife's birthday. How does Saturday sound?

I hope you didn't come in last night before seeing my message, I'd hate to have inconvenienced you because I didn't see your reply fast enough.

I'm going to PM you for your e-maill address and give you mine so we can communicate better.

-Peter
wrekka

No I ended up not going up there.  I was hoping you got mine before you headed up there.

Saturday I's pretty tied up unless we meet up pretty early.
Pete

Well, are you thinking like 12:00 at CHG early? or something earlier? I don't really have a place to play at my house unfortunately.

I can be down at CHG Saturday when it opens at noon if you want to try to play then.

I am going to try to paint my Battle Standard Bearer tonight from start to finish. It's only one model right? It can't take _that_ long.

-Peter
wrekka

Yeah thats fine - how many points are you thinking?
Pete

If I get my BSB finished, I might be able to field 1500 points. If not, I'd say 1250.

That work for you?

1500 =  good.
Pete

Chris and I played our match on Saturday. 1500 points is a good level to play WFB, I'm glad I have enough painted now to play it. The game was a lot of fun and "Scouts" helped me out immensly.

So the result of Tomb Kings vs. Orcs was Victory-Massacre for the Orcs. Does that mean I get 5 points?

I'm ready for round 4 whenever.

1500 points is my favorite setup to play... or 2000 points without special characters.
For some reason, special characters ruin it for me. (maybe because mine are garbage? not sure.)

The victory was definately a massacre.  And yes you get 5 points for that, unless you play another game.
Blood Bowl Wizard

It looks like all of the round 3 games have been played now. I need to know how much gold Nate, and Peter spent during their games, so I can update the records. Perhaps we should get together this Sunday afternoon to finish round 3, and start round 4.

What do you guys think?

Jason
Pete

I spent 30 gold. I can't make it Sunday.
wrekka

I will be there Sunday - say... 1pm?
vegeta7913

Sunday is fine by me
Trius

I didn't spend any gold.  I'll be free later on Sunday but I'm not sure when.

So I was talking to Chris about his loss to Pete, and it sounded like the game was resoved incorrectly. Chris said that Peter's orks won a combat on his Tomb King's flank and over-ran into unit after unit until everything in his army was destroyed all on turn 3. The rules don't allow for this, if that's the way it happened.

Peter, or anyone else who may have watched, do I have this right?

It wasn't my entire army.. but it was a large chunk.
Nazgul12

Were the units being overrun into all ready engaged in combat?  The new rules only allow a unit to fight multiple times in a combat round if they overrun into a combat that hasn't been fought out yet.  If those units weren't egnaged, I'd say the game needs to be replayed, as that's far too large of an error to let stand.

Also, how many games need to be resolved still?  Me and Nate finished our game quite a while ago now.  Is it about time to plan another campaign round?

-Jake
vegeta7913

Yeah, I believe we were planning to meet at the store sunday 8/3 at 1pm to do the next round.

No the units were not engaged in combat.  That's why it's such a big deal at the moment.
Nazgul12

Hey Chris,

How did you get those cool marking at the bottom of your entries that say what armies you play?
wrekka

I found 'em on various places on the internet.
Just google search for Forum signature bars.  There are places out there that have tons of different ones.  Then obviously you can narrow your search down by throwing Warhammer in there Razz
Pete

I don't think this is relevant to our mighty empires campaign because this was a "fun game" between Chris's Chaos and my Orcs.

There were 2 overrun combats that took place in our game.

The first was caused by my orcs and trolls hitting his cavalry in the flank and causing them to flee.

That led my orcs to just barely pursue into his chaos chariot which was not engaged. We both took a moment to look up what happens in the rulebook and talked it over. Before I could finish reading the entry about this Chris said he was confident that "overrun" or a "new combat" begins with the unit hit by mine.

That caused the chariot to flee and my orcs to pursue into the flank of his Chaos Warriors which were also unengaged. I won that combat causing them to flee and I didn't catch them this time. The combats ended.

From what I understand, this is how it's supposed to work in the rulebook.

Just thought I'd clear this up that this was not what happened in our Mighty Empires game.

Was that our Chaos/Orcs game?  Either way - it's done.  I don't really care about replaying it - i had fun.
