esoteric rules discussionquery: does a poisoned bolt thrower automatically wound the whole rank of troops on a 6?
query: does a model with killing blow AND poisoned attacks still roll the wound die to see if they kill outright when they roll an automatic wound with the poison?
i cannot find a rule in the book to definitively support yes or no in either query.

I would say no. I think the first model hit would be wounded automatically but that you would have to roll to wound each additional model. It certainly is confusing.

Since you wound automatically with poison on a 6, I would say that killing blow works when you roll a 6 to hit. However, I think there is a rule somewhere that says effects like these don't "stack". Have you checked the WFB FAQs?
I'll look around when I get a chance, I'm curious myself.

I just submitted the question about the poisoned bolt thrower to Games-workshop's rules-boyz. I'll let you know when I get the answer.
On the Poison/Killing blow. On page 94 it says "The effects from special rules are cumulative". So I think you would roll the poisoned auto-wounds to see if they become killing blow wounds.

i think all esoteric rules should be discussed in this thread, in order to broaden knowledge of the game amongst the participants of our league.

I feel that the poisoned bolt thrower works like this:
Roll to hit, a six auto wounds. Proceed to next model in rank. Roll to hit. A roll of a six auto wounds. If the roll isn't a six, roll to wound as normal. If it doesn't, the shot ends as normal. Continue this procedure as you normally would for a normal bolt thrower.
In this case you would only roll to hit after the first shot to see if poison has any effect.
In the case of Killing Blow + Poison, you poison your enemy on a 6+. Then you would roll to wound to see if Killing Blow would trigger. A roll of 1-5 means that the model takes the normal poisoned wound and may roll any saves it has. A roll of a 6 means that Killing Blow triggers and the model may only take Ward Saves.

I enjoy the "I feel" statement Steve. I feel Skaven should get an auto massacre ever match, regardless of points.
