Deck DiscussionsWe had some interesting games yesterday up at CHG. I think all of us that played were a bit off our game, but I'm certainly getting a better sense of what my Crab deck can do and who I should look out for.
Do any of you have a sense of what decks to look out for?

I would have to say that Unicorn is always going to be a difficult match-up, but not consistent enough to pull that many Kotei wins.
No one down here plays Scorpion, but I have a feeling we're going to see some difficult dishonor and chi-death decks at Koteis.
I don't have a sense for how Mantis is doing, but they've been nasty before so I wouldn't underestimate them.
Lion can be a beast, but if you can shut down movement & bowing it really hurts them (although, really, the same applies to Uni). Ask Shawn if you want to know about all the Lion-meta.
Spider has a few really nasty decks, but if you are prepared for what they do, I don't think they are impossible to overcome.
I have a Monk Defensive Honor that runs ridiculously quick, but is just inconsistent enough to not be top-tier. My Dragon dueling/magistrate never really clicked for me, and I haven't tested out the new stronghold (although apparently it's really blitzy).
Crane is definitely a worry, but since their honor gains are so conditional, you can really take your time to build up, then wack 'em.
Crab is of course the big fish right now, especially after HV. Still, my win ratio is probably about 2:1, so either I'm doing something just flat out wrong (which is likely) or the Crab aren't as difficult as everyone is making them out to be. I think the real key for Crab is that some of the best players in the game play them.

OK, I'm biased. If Mantis can do even 1/2 of what they could do in the past you need to run some dueling type events. only lion could run without in the past. Otherwise you need some single person removal.

Well I know I maybe biased, but from what i have seen Unicorn is not that inconsistent. Or maybe I am just lucky.

Actually, I revise my position. Unicorn scares me

Unicorn only scares you because of me
Seth has seen my Uni build too many times and he hates me for it... or rather his Crab does. I'm not going to post it here because of the Katana Tourney on Saturday though a few of you have seen it. I will however post a thorough listing of the deck, what it does, and the sick multiple ways it can and does win games.
I can honestly say in 30+ games I have yet to see the same thing happen twice, so it's consistently inconsistent... but in this case, that's a damn good thing given its win percentage.

What no Phoenix? I see a lot of potential for Phoenix military or switch. May not be the most consistent deck...but why does every deck have to win a big tournament to be good? Besides, all it takes is one loss or two to knock you out of the running. I'd be prepared to face ANY deck, with a good start to boot. If you can't deal with one or two deck types or clans, my pal Murphy says you'll be facing them come crunch time. That's the fun of the game though.
