Constructed tournaments?Well, given the turn-out on Saturday, it looks like we might have enough people to have the occasional constructed tournament. I believe this was discussed at the pre-release? Is there a weekend in February that looks good for people? I'd like to get one or two in before Kotei season hits full swing.
*Edit: Any weekend but the 22 would work for me. Feb 16th?

It looks like the back rooms will be rented out the 16th-17th so that might be out! I'm working on Feb. today so hopefully I'll get something hammered out.

How does the Feb. Sat 9th look? That would also be a Katana tournament.

That'd work fine for me. Hopefully others read this board consistently, though  . I'll send a PM to everyone I can and see what they say. Do we have contact info for the guys from Quad Cities?

I know that pretty much any Saturday in Feb. works for us. The first weekend in march is no good because we will be at the Green Bay Kotei. You could try calling the store store in the Quad Cities. I'm not sure what the name is, but its the only other stronghold store besides critical hit and the core.

Personally, I'd need to know by Monday if it's going to happen on the 9th so I have time to request the day off. Anything earlier that that day wouldn't be enough notice for me. I pretty much work every weekend.

The 9th works fine for Liz and I. We'll be able to use the new cards though right? Otherwise...blah.

I'm definitely thinking we should use HV, especially with Kotei season coming up. This would be a nice chance to test out the new cards at a tourney.

Absolutely on the HV. As far as I know L5R sets are legal the day they come out for tournaments.

Actually, in most cases, L5R sets are legal 30 days after their release date (with exception to base sets and direct-to-player sets which are, IIRC, legal immediately).
Of course, tournament organizers can always make their own calls on this.
I have no issues against allowing HV. I just hope we have it up here in Waterloo by then.

That is true. HV won't be legal until the start of Kotei season. I figured since this wouldn't be an AEG sanctioned tournament, the 30 day rule needn't apply. I could, however, see the argument that not everyone will have the HV cards by the 9th, so it would make some decks a bit unfair. I could really go either way with this, although I would prefer using HV, since I'd like to run as close to my Kotei-ready deck as I can to test it out. But if we are making this for the sword, I'd defer to balance issues, if anyone were to protest.

I think we can do HV legal. I think if we can get our order in by Wednesday or Thursday we should have it before the 9th.

Let's do it HV legal. If nothing else to get you guys ready for the Kotei season! Everyone should have the cards by then AND have very little experience so I think it would be an even playing field.

It shouldn't be an issue. Its a local tourney so we can run it however we want. Nobody should care.

Actually it's 30 days after the set releases. But, since it's not a 'real' tourney, who the hell cares.
