CHG has P3 Paints!

CHG recently added the P3 paint rack!  These paints are great.  They feature water based pigments, which provides excellent one coat coverage (even over black primer), a line of inks AND washes, and the original style paint bottles.  These bottles will keep your paint from drying out almost indefinitely.

The color system is laid out with base coats and highlights for many of the main color choices for armies, including the base colors for most 40k armies.  The matching base and highlights include red, blue, green, gray, light gray (space wolf gray), purple, white (bleached bone), as well as a wide variety of earth tones and greens.

I use these paints almost exclusively, I still use the remaining GW inks that I have, and the superb GW washes.

Is there a gold color?  I hate painting gold its the only metalic that takes more than a couple of coats.
Groomie

Yes.  There are three, in fact.

Mister Groom... riddle me this:

Is there a 'Tzeentch'-esque color?  GW definately doesnt have a nice Tzeentch blue color.  I'm able to mix to get it.. but it never turns out the same twice.

There are several different shades of blue, from blue-gray (Trollblood Base) to Frostbite (space wolf gray).  They have about seven different shades or so.

In terms of mixing colors, the best way to do that is to actually write down your formula.  Pipettes are the best way to mix paints.  They are basically disposable plastic droppers.  Write down how many drops of each paint and as long as you maintain that ratio the color will turn out the same regardless of whether you are mixing a little for touch ups or a lot for units.

Chris, one thing to keep in mind- Tzeentch is all about change/mutation. So if the blues you are using are close, but not quite right, thats not too big of a deal. That, and i dont think anyone would be a big enough of a jerk to call you on it and make a big deal of it.

As far as I know, there isn't a Tzeentch Blue in the GW catalog.  What the P3 paints offer is a longer shelf life with the benefits of liquid pigment.  If you can't find a particular shade, then you need to write the formula down.  Personally, I hate formulas.  I only use them when I want a color to look a certain way.

I am struggling here for the right words, but I guess what I mean is that when I painted my Imperial Fists, I didn't want a cartoon color scheme.  I wanted the yellow to look like it was more "lived in".  So I came up with a formula for that kind of yellow.

Otherwise, I just find the bottle color that is close to what I want.  That is easiest.

Sounds good to me.. thanks guys.
