Blaaaaargh!!!!...response to new AGOT (actually not so bad)Well, our tournaments will continue the same. I'm going to open the forum to the *Tim Lyons* that will follow. I'll stay quiet for one day. Then be prepared!!! (for some insightful dialog)

I'm interested in hearing what you think of the changes. I'm not particularly happy with them. I really like the collectible side of the game, though I can understand why they changed it. I could get used to fixed sets (if I have to). Although I will miss draft horribly.
The part I'm really not happy about is that they're apparently dropping 1v1 support in favor of multiplayer. I wouldn't mind if they supported both equally, but I'm not a big fan of multiplayer. It's fine occasionally, but not every time. It's too much work and my fate isn't in my hands. So if all games have to be multiplayer I probably won't be playing very often any more Which make me sad with all the new players we've been getting.

Wow Winter really has come! =( While I am not suprised I am very saddened. I was hoping to at least make it through Five Kings block before any changes were made to the games format. I second Starfire's assessments. I think that the diehard current AGOT players ike the current format of the card game, or else they would (or have already) made a decision to play other games, CCG or not. I will miss the draft for the new set, although at least Winter, ITE, and 5KE base set are still draftable. I liked the collectible format but I can live with the new format if sets come out every month or so AFTER the release of A Clash of Arms has completed. Time will tell on that.
The thing that confuses me the most is the sudden emphasis on multiplayer in place of the format which has been standard since the game was released. If the intent on the switch is to grow the game, alienating many of the diehard fans who enjoy the 1on1 game seems like a bad way to start. There is plenty of time for FFG to moderate their stance based on fan reaction. I know my preference is constructed first, draft second, and multiplayer third. (Okay, probably classic third and then multiplayer a distant fourth, but you get the point).
The bottom line is that the game has not been cancelled. Been there, done that with other CCGs that I love, and that really is awful. There will still be new product in the stores (for the near future anyway), Jared will still get some of my hard earned money, and I plan to keep playing AGOT. The AGOT community is great, the recent sets since the new format change have been some of my favorites, and I love playing the game. And I know that in our meta at least there will always be room for 1on1 games no matter what the powers that be at FFG would prefer to see.

I pretty much agree what you two have said so far.
1) the game isn't cancelled. So that's good.
2) WE (the Store) will continue to run 1vs1 tournaments and host "regional 1vs1". Heck, it might even boost 1vs1 out-of-towners!
3) There has GOT to be a way to draft this
I'm not ready to stop playing the game as of yet. I want to see a couple months (begining in Feb.) of the chapters. I think it could be alot of fun for constructed.
As long as we're having fun that's what matters. I doubt at this stage that I'll go to play AGOT at GenCon. Multi-Player is pretty great for this game. Starfire said it well, I like holding my fate in my hands!

I'm just glad to see that our meta hasn't turned into the doomsayers much like the rest of the AGOT community.

The biggest shock to me is that *Tim Lyons* multi-player push! Well, we'll have fun with it!

Here's a thought. Let's NOT do a regional. Still hold a tournament. It just won't be a regional, but, have super-shweet prizes for 1v1.

Yay! Big tournament! I don't really care what it's called, it's still going to be fun!
