Advancing and Movement

To Advane means to move your up to your current speed and then perform a combat action.  Bushwack allows you to perform your combat action, then move up to your speed in inches.

Movement issues that have been brought up recently should be resolved in this fashion:

A model that chooses, or is forced, to advance can elect not to move any distance or turn at all in order to avoid causing Go To Ground to expire or to suffer damage from Field of Talons. However, because they chose (or were forced) to advance, they did not forfeit their movement, and cannot receive an aiming bonus.

I have also made inquiries regarding movement and whether or not standing still would trigger abilities like Intercept if the model was already within 6" before activating.  Current rulings for Field Of Talons would seem to indicate that the actual movement of the model triggers the feat, not the simple act of having a movement phase.

For the intercept order of the skirmishers, check out the FAQ for the  similarly worded defensive strike of the devout.   "The Devout may make a Defensive Strike against an enemy model that ends its normal movement within the Devout's melee range."

Particularly:

Q: An enemy Wrack activates within melee range of the Devout. Since the Wrack has a movement portion of its activation, would the Devout be able to make a Defensive Strike against it?
A: Yes it would.

Q: If a model starts its activation in melee range of a Devout and either forfeits its movement or ends movement within the Devout’s melee range, does the Devout get another Defensive Strike?
A: Yes.

Field of Talons and other similarly worded functions trigger with actual movement, not an activation or ending of a movement phase for a model.  Defensive Strike, Counter Charge and Intercept trigger at the end of an activated models movement, even if it didn't move.
