I'm in.
I propose that we adopt the Mighty Empires rules from WFB. The Mighty Empires league seems to be running smoothly.
It's basically a visual challenge league. We could even make up our own "futuristic" empire tiles out of paper or something, call them planets in a sector of the imperium thats being contested.
Mountains = Mineral Planet
Rivers = Class M - life supporting planet
Plains/forest = Basic planet, terraformable
Swamp = lifeless rock
Cities = Colonies
Mines = Factories
Forts = Fortresses

Does someone have a Mighty Empires set that can be used for this? The store set is being used for WFB, and they have only been taking a week or two off between seasons right now.
We could just use a paper map on foam board with push pins. Low tech, but very effective.

Actually, I looked into this when I started to think about it from my earlier post. One can actually buy blank, paper hexes (think settlers of catan).
Here's a site in Germany where these can be aquired:

I was thinking about buying some and using them for this, it wasn't too expensive. Otherwise I'd be up for making some out of craft supplies. The pushpins would work out well.
