Post subject: MechWarrior? **Now With Adventure Information**
|
|
Hey, this is Eric
If I can scrounge up enough interest, I'd be interested in trying to run a MechWarrior 3rd ed (aka, CBT:RPG) game sometime. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM (or I guess maybe replay here?) SciFi with big stompy robots. *edit* I'm often at Critical Hit on weekends. Saturdays, recently. _________________ "The world and the universe is an extremely beautiful place, and the more we understand about it the more beautiful does it appear." --Richard Dawkins --------------------------------------------------- www.reallypathetic.com Last edited by Prillotashekta on Sat Mar 01, 2008 8:42 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Just to clarify,
No previous experience with the ruleset or the BattleTech/MechWarrior universe is required. _________________ "The world and the universe is an extremely beautiful place, and the more we understand about it the more beautiful does it appear." --Richard Dawkins --------------------------------------------------- www.reallypathetic.com |

Whatever people think they would like. Succession Wars, Clan Invasion, Post-Invasion, Jihad... You name it, I can probably pull it off.

I've had some interest, so to try and dig up a last couple players, I figure I might as well post some information about what sort of game I'll be running.
If you are unfamiliar with MechWarrior 3rd ed or the Classic BattleTech universe, don't worry. I can ease you in. Even if you've never played MechWarrior or ANY role-playing game before, don't worry. You are still more than welcome to join in. What I'm planning is a small series of adventures (starting with one or two game sessions with the option to expand if players like it). The time is late 3067, starting around mid-October. The PCs will be a newly-hired recon lance for a small mercenary outfit. This merc unit has recently accepted a 6-month contract with the Lyran Alliance to bolster that nation's ranks in the aftermath of the FedCom Civil War. Players will be involved with scouting, recon, planetary assault, planetary defense, basically various different ways of getting in trouble. I'll have a handful of characters available for selection, or if you want to try your hand at making your own character, I can help you out. Being a merc unit, you'll have a bit of leeway in fleshing your characters out. Being 3067, there will be some new-tech, and a new storyline. If you're more familiar with older-style (succession wars era) stuff, don't worry. I'll ease you in (after all, even in the Jihad, older mechs are still around). If you don't know what I'm talking about right now, don't worry, I'll ease you in. There will not be a lot of armored vehicular combat early on (there will be personal combat), but there will be later on if the campaign continues. I am flexible on vehicular combat resolution. Standard Classic BattleTech is great for this, but requires knowledge of that game (again, myself and the other veteran BattleTech players can ease you in if you're unfamiliar. Its not a difficult game to learn). I do have access to the old Solaris VII mech dueling rules as well for smaller engagements, but they are admittedly more convoluted. For the immediate future, I plan on being up at Critical Hit early Saturday afternoon (around 1:00 or so). _________________ "The world and the universe is an extremely beautiful place, and the more we understand about it the more beautiful does it appear." --Richard Dawkins --------------------------------------------------- www.reallypathetic.com |

Alright, folks:
I've got a small group together so I'll attempt to run the beginning of this adventure THIS SUNDAY, April 6th, starting probably around 2-2:30 or so. There are still open slots, so if you're still on the fence, stop by and check it out. _________________ "The world and the universe is an extremely beautiful place, and the more we understand about it the more beautiful does it appear." --Richard Dawkins --------------------------------------------------- www.reallypathetic.com |
